Instructions
Are you a Fall 2008 ERE Expo participant? If so, you should have received a username and password you can use to access the ERE Expo Blog. You either received it via email or in the information packet you received at registration.
Following are some helpful instructions that will hopefully show you very quickly how to make use of this blog.
Logging In to the ERE Expo Blog
Did you receive your ERE Expo Blog username and password? Email us at help@ere.net if not. You will need these to log in. (Keep in mind this is different from your usual ERE.net email/password login combo.)
If you’ve got your username and password in hand, you can log in at the bottom of an page on http://www.ereexpoblog.com by clicking “Login.”
You will need to log in to write new posts and to access certain information on this website.
Creating Your Own Post
Once you’ve logged in, it’s easy to create posts and contribute to this blog. You can do so by clicking on the “Site Admin” link at the bottom of any page on the blog. Only registered conference participants are able to create posts and access the admin tool.
To create a new post, just click on the “write” tab and then the “post” link. Write a title for your post and type your message. Last, but not least, don’t forget to categorize your post. You can select a category on the right side of the posting entry screen.
Use the publish key and not the “save” key when you post. The save key won’t send the post live, but publish will.
We’ve also created a special category for photos you might take at the conference. If you want to upload a photo, just use the box below the title filed that says “Upload a photo?” You can only upload one photo per post. Be sure to select “Photos, photos, photos” as the category if you’re posting a photo.
Managing Posts You’ve Created
To manage posts you’ve already written (for example, to edit a post you’ve already written), just click on the “Site Admin” link at the bottom of any page on the blog. Then click the “manage” tab in the site admin tool and click posts to see a list of posts.
Note that you can only edit posts you are the author of.
Getting Help If You Need It
Hopefully you won’t have any trouble posting to the ERE Expo Blog or accessing its special features, like the attendee map. If you do have any difficulties, like:
- You never got a username/password.
- You can’t figure out how to log in.
- You’re logged in, but you can’t access a page or write a post.
Then don’t hesitate to either flag down an ERE employee while you’re at the conference or send an email to help@ere.net. We’ll do our best to get back to you and help you fix whatever isn’t working.
Have fun using this site!
